Professional Background
Have worked in nonprofit administration for fifteen years, including roles as Executive Director and Touring and Residency Manager of Jump Rhythm Jazz Project; coordinator for First Call For Help, a social services program sponsored by United Way; and Assistant Manager with the Alley Theatre Telefundraising campaign. On the for-profit side, I served as Assistant to the Director of National Advertising at Arista Records.
Current memberships include: Board of Directors, Exhale Dance Tribe; Advisory Board, Jump Rhythm Jazz Project; UNCW Leadership Series Selection Committee. I also enjoy on-air fundraising for the local public radio affiliate. In addition to being on faculty at FundWell.com/Columbia College Chicago in Proposal Writing, I have taught public speaking to college freshmen at Indiana University Bloomington. Currently, I hold an assistantship in the e-learning program at the University of North Carolina Wilmington.

- How long have you been teaching this course?: Since 2005.
- What is your teaching philosophy? My goal as a professor is to strike a balance between inspiring students’ individual imaginations; cultivating a community of visionaries, scholars and conscious citizens; and relaying practical skills that lead to success in fundraising.
- What is your mission in teaching this course?: To help students hone their proposal writing and communication skills and strengthen their sense of personal mission and public vision.
