What type of organization will I work with?
You will need to work with a small to medium 501(c)(3) organization that has been established for at least five years. It is recommended that you select an organization with which you already have a relationship. You can see a list of organizations that have worked with our students in the past here.
What is a mentoring organization?
A mentoring organization is a small to medium sized nonprofit that is willing to mentor you throughout the certificate. This is not an internship, as the work you complete is on the course's schedule and not the organization's. The mentor-mentee relationship gives students the ability to get involved in service learning as well as be actively engaged in the subject matter.
What is an experiential learning course? What do you mean by experiential learning?
An experiential learning course is a class that requires you to learn by experience by working with a nonprofit organization in the community. This is a win-win situation for both you and the organization. You benefit by learning from real-life situations, while the organization benefits by receiving assistance in creating working fundraising documents.
