Robert Fogal

A philanthropy professional since 1979, Dr. Fogal currently works as Minister of Philanthropy for  the United Church of Christ in southeastern Pennsylvania and is an Advanced Certified Fund Raising Executive (ACFRE). He has been a Fundwell Academy professor par excellence, teaching the Major Gifts course. He has held senior fundraising positions in higher education, health and long term care. Dr. Fogal is an active member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and served on its national board of directors and research council. He is a regular contributor to “Management File” in Advancing Philanthropy and authored the fundraising chapter in The Handbook of Nonprofit Leadership and Management. In addition to his experience as a philanthropic fundraiser, Dr. Fogal is an active church musician. His academic preparation includes the following degrees:

  • B. Mus., Heidelberg College, Tiffin, Ohio
  • S.M.M., Union Theological Seminary, New York City
  • M.A., Indiana University
  • Ph.D., Indiana University

In his teaching, Dr. Fogal creates circumstances and provides guidance that encourages his students to think critically about fundraising practices and sculpt their application to specific situations and organizations.

 

Elizabeth Dorsey

Founder and CEO of Fundwell Academy, Professor Dorsey brings her extensive experience in fund development and teaching to Fundwell students. Since 1985, Professor Dorsey has worked as a fundraising executive. She started as fund developer for the Girl Scouts of Milwaukee and later for the Chicago Academy of the Arts. In 1987, she taught her first course on grant proposal writing for graduate students in the Arts Entertainment and Media Management Department, Columbia College Chicago where she continued on the faculty until 2008. During her tenure at Columbia College, she licensed Fundwell Academy online to the College. Professor Dorsey also develops and teaches workshops on various aspects of fundraising to the general public, including the Art Institute of Chicago and Arts Bridge, an incubator for Chicago arts organizations. In 1998, Elizabeth developed and published Fundwell Academy’s online courses and certificate program in fundraising. Since then, she has taught, administered, licensed, nurtured and grown Fundwell academy with great enthusiasm and wisdom. She personally has worked with and taught the 800-plus students who have graduated from Fundwell over the last decade. Professor Dorsey holds a B.S. from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, an M.A. from Columbia College, Chicago and an M.L.A. from The University of Chicago.
