Professional Background
I have been a Fundraising Executive since 1985. My first professional position was as Fund Developer for the Girl Scouts of Milwaukee. I moved to Chicago in 1987 as Fund Developer for the Chicago Academy of the Arts. That same year I began teaching Grant Proposal Writing for Graduate students in the Arts Entertainment and Media Management department of Columbia College Chicago. I have been adjunct faculty at Columbia College Chicago continuously since 1987. I also developed a number of workshops for the general public interested in learning about grant proposal writing. The workshops were also presented at the Art Institute of Chicago. As program officer for Arts Bridge, an incubator for Chicago arts organizations, I presented fundraising workshops for participants. In 1998, I personally funded, and produced The Online Certificate in Fundraising. Continuously Since 1999 I have licensed The Online Certificate in Fundraising to Columbia College Chicago. We have taught over 800 students Proposal Planning and Writing, The Annual Fund, and Major Gifts.
